PH Resorts Rethinks CFZ Casino Plans as Philippines Continue to Fight COVID-19
Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) is meant to be a hub of commercial activity. Casinos are a significant part of it. PH Resorts Group has received approval to temporarily suspend its gaming license in the CFZ.
PH Resorts wants to temporarily suspend the provisional gaming license tied to its property in Clark Global City in the CFZ. The company is investing $300 million in its Emerald Bay Resort and Casino in Mactan, Cebu.
The Philippines is still suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. The economic activity in the country has suffered greatly. Public health restrictions continue to linger in Metro Manila. Most of the population is expected to have received their shots by December 2. Active cases have dropped from 40,000 to 25,00. If the rate continues, Manila will remove the alert level in a couple of weeks. It is possible that most of Filipinos will be vaccinated against COVIED-9 by then.
