Pennsylvania Gambling Revenues up 8.8% for Month of July
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has released its latest monthly revenue report revealing that gambling revenue in the state grew by 8.8% year-on-year in the month of July.
The latest figures show that combined revenues for all sectors came to $467 million. This represented an increase of 6% compared to June.
Retail slots were the industry’s main source of revenue as casinos reported $214.6 million in slots revenue for the month of July. This was a slight increase on July 2022’s figure of $213.9 million. Casino operators also reported that revenue from table games dropped by 3.77% to $83.4 million. Revenue from Video Gaming Terminals came to $3.35 million, down by 7.23% year-on-year while fantasy sports revenue fell by 24% to $655,886.
iGaming up by 35%
Online casino operators reported a 35% increase in combined revenues to $132.89 million. However, this was a slight 1.9% drop compared to the previous month’s total of $135.43 million. Of that figure, $214.6 million in revenue came through online slots which saw a slight jump in revenues year-on-year. Meanwhile online casino table games revenue grew by 48% to $35.36 million for the month. However, online poker continues to fall as revenues dropped by just under 5% to $2.63 million.
The market leader in the iGaming sector was once again Hollywood Casino with $54.39million for the month of July, a 40.97% increase year-on-year. Second-placed Valley Forge Casino Resort reported a 67.4% increase as its iGaming operations generated $29.2 million in revenues.
Sports betting revenues up by 25%
Pennsylvania sports betting revenues grew by 25% year-on-year to $32 million. Sportsbooks reported accepting over $338.4 million in wagers throughout the month. Of this figure, $306 million came through online sportsbooks resulting in $36.4 million in revenue. Meanwhile, the retail sector accepted just over $22.3 million in wagers generating $2.9 million in revenue.
Taxes
Total tax revenue generated from slot machines, table games, sports wagering, iGaming, video gaming terminals and fantasy contests for the month of July came to $192m.
