Pennsylvania casinos continue to shatter records, generate $432 million in revenues in November
Pennsylvania casinos again shattered monthly records, generating more than $432.5 million in November, state regulators said.
That was nearly $6.5 million more than October, which set a revenue record at nearly $426 million, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. In addition, revenues last month were up 52%, or $148 million, compared to November 2020.
Of the state’s 16 licensed casinos, Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Dauphin County saw the highest revenue total in November, bringing in more than $60 million.
Locally, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh saw revenues total $32 million. Of that, slot machines brought in more than $21.1 million, with $7.6 million generated from table games. Sports betting brought in $3.3 million, seemingly rebounding from October, when $949,917 was generated. In all, the casino saw $37.4 million wagered on sports in November.
At the recently rebranded Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Washington County, revenues in November totaled $26.7 million — with $11.9 million from slot machines, $2.8 million from table games and $12 million from retail and online sports wagering. Sports betting continued an upward climb last month, bringing in $4.8 million more than in October when revenues reached $7 million. The facility saw $217 million wagered on sports betting last month.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Fayette County generated $1.88 million, $1.7 million of which came from slot machines and $178,735 from table games.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh, located at the Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield, saw revenues of $8.3 million last month — $6.9 million from slots, $1.1 million from table games and $321,082 from retail sports wagering. In all, the facility saw $1.2 million wagered through sports bets, data show.
In casinos across the state, retail slot machine revenues totaled $185.4 million, and retail table games generated $82.9 million. In addition, $63.4 million was generated from online slot machines, $27.6 million came from online table games and $2.7 from online poker.
Statewide last month, video gaming terminals generated $3.1 million, and fantasy contests brought in $3.3 million, data show.
Retail and online sports wagering generated a record $63.6 million, which was a significant increase from October when revenues reached $23.5 million. Of last month’s total, $55 million was wagered online.
In addition, sportsbooks across the state saw $761.5 million in wagers last month compared to $491.9 million wagered in November 2020.
While that number did not reach the $776.3 million set in October, betting volume throughout November ticked up to $25.4 million per day from $25 million in October, according to PlayPennsylvania, an independent website covering legal and regulated gambling in the state.
“Football has spurred the current spike, but the wave that sportsbooks are riding is about more than one game or one sport,” Katie Kohler, PlayPennsylvania analyst, said in a statement. “November had one less weekend of football than in October, but the NBA and college basketball have proven to be formidable bet generators, too.”
The state collected about $172 million in tax revenue across all forms of gambling last month.
