Patriots Kayshon Boutte arrested for online gambling during time with LSU
New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has reportedly been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges related to illegal online gambling, per Baton Rouge’s WAFB.
The network reported on Thursday that “some of the alleged illegal gaming took place while he was an LSU player, investigators allege.”
However, the source reportedly told the network that Boutte is not believed to have bet against himself while on the field for the LSU Tigers as a member of the team.
Boutte is alleged, per WAFB, of creating an online fraudulent gaming account while he was under the age of 21 and illegally placed thousands of bets, “including some on LSU football”.
Per The Advocate‘s Wilson Alexander, Boutte opened a FanDuel account with the username “Kayshonboutte01” to make his bets and once actually bet on himself in a game against Florida State as part of an eight-leg parlay.
Alexander’s reporting shared that nearly 9,000 bets were placed between April 2022 and May 2023, around when Boutte turned 21. Six of those bets allegedly involved LSU football, and some betting transactions occurred at the LSU Football Operations Center.
Wages and payouts reportedly added up to “several hundred thousand dollars,” per WAFB:
Boutte turned himself in on charges of Computer Fraud, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of Gaming Prohibited for Persons under 21.
Arrangements were made for Boutte to be booked, post a $6,000 bond, and then immediately released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
LSU issued a statement on Boutte’s arrest after the news broke.
The NFL declined to comment on the news. Boutte is an active player in the league.
Boutte was drafted last spring by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He had two catches for 19 yards in his rookie season.
