A new proposal calling to introduce taxes for online gaming and games of skill is gaining traction in Brazil.
A new bill proposes the taxation of online games in Brazil. The bill is now in the Senate Plenary. It is unclear when or if PLP 202/2019 will gain further traction. It would apply to games of chance and games with skill, but not games involving chance. According to the bill, the tax rate would be between 2% and 5%. The proposal also covers competitions and events related to esports. Brazil is yet to establish the regulation for online gambling.
