Online gambling surges in the UK

One in four people in the UK had gambled online in last four weeks. This is up from 18.1% in 2017. There were also increases in gambling among women and those aged over 55.
One in four adults aged over 16 are gambling online. The percentage of women who had participated in online gambling in the last four weeks was at 22.1%, up three per cent on last year. Online gambling is being encouraged by celebrity influencers. Nuno Albuquerque, head of treatment for UKAT, is concerned about the rise in 25-34 year olds. He believes celebrity Influencers could be instigating a crisis like no other.
