Virginia saw a 10.4% increase in its leisure and hospitality industry in the first year of legal sports betting. Ohio is planning to launch legal betting by the end of 2022. The leisure industry provided jobs for over 335,000 Virginians.
There are 519,000 Ohioans employed in the leisure and hospitality industry. If 8,300 new jobs were added in this industry, it would be a growth rate of around 2%. The gambling sector is only a portion of the industry and it's only part of leisure & hospitality.
