An Oak Park man remembered to purchase his Fantasy 5 tickets at the last minute and ended up winning a $170,129 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery!
Russell Morgenstern, 67, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the June 3 drawing to win the big prize: 12-20-26-31-34. He bought his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
“I play Fantasy 5 every day and I have been playing online for about five or six years,” said Morgenstern. “Around 6 p.m. the night of the drawing, I remembered I hadn’t purchased my tickets yet, so I logged into my account and purchased a few tickets with easy pick numbers.
“At 8 p.m. that night, I saw an email from the Lottery informing me I’d won. I got on MichiganLottery.com and looked at the results from the drawing. When I saw there was one jackpot winner for $170,129 and the ticket was purchased online, I knew I really was the winner! Winning this prize is a windfall and a huge blessing!”
Morgenstern recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to retire and remodel his lake house.
Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing. Players may win prizes in the regular nightly drawing, the Double Play drawing, or both. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39.
