New Treasure Chest Casino set to open its doors in Kenner
KENNER, La. (WGNO) — It’s one of the biggest attractions in Kenner, and now the new and improved Treasure Chest Casino is opening its doors to the public.
“It’s really nice. I mean, it’s really good for the city obviously, but for all of the players some of the older machines, we’ll miss them but there’s a lot of new stuff here and a lot of new opportunity and hopefully a lot of luck,” Treasure Chest Casino guest Jason Selzer said.
The 48,000 square foot casino has over 900 slot machines, 32 different table games and a brand-new sports book.
“This is an all-new treasure chest, it truly is. It’s such an elevated experience from what was here previously. By moving from a riverboat to a single-level casino, we’re more spread out, more spacious, more comfortable. So, this is a much more inviting casino experience for our players,” Boyd Gaming Corporate Communications Vice President David Strow said.
Gaming is just one part of the operation. With four new restaurants, visitors will have access to both casual and fine dining.
“Alder & Birch Steakhouse actually started in the Orleans Casino in Las Vegas. That’s where we first introduced the brand, and so it’s kind of appropriate we would bring it here in the New Orleans area for the Treasure Chest,” Strow said.
“I’m just excited to see the familiar faces that we’ve had for so long, but also I’m excited to see the new faces that I think who in the past may have not thought the treasure chest was there, but I think we will be that in the future,” Treasure Chest Casino Marketing Director Rodney Miller said.
