New Jersey Reports $436M in Total Casino Wins in March
New Jersey’s casino and iGaming market has reported considerable growth.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcementreported $436.9 million in casino and internet gaming wins in March, compared to $394.3 million for the same month last year. The results in March were led by casino wins, which closed at $239.7 million while iGaming wins in the Garden State reached $197.1 million for the month. By comparison, the DGE reported $228 million in casino wins in March 2023 with iGaming closing at $165.7 million. March marked the first month the DGE has provided operator-specific casino win figures.
Borgata Hotel Casino reported $56.5 million in casino wins last month, the highest March win rate in New Jersey but its results were down 8.1% compared to March 2023. Borgata, which partners with BetMGM for iGaming in the Garden State, posted $43.8 million in iGaming wins in March 2024, which was relatively flat compared to March 2023.
Hard Rock emerged with the second-highest casino win in March 2024 at $44.3 million, an 11% increase year-over-year. The gambling and hospitality giant closed the month with a significant uptick in iGaming wins at $10.4 million, up 53.7% compared to March 2023.
Ocean Casino also posted favorable growth with casino wins reaching $40.6 million in March 2024, up from $34.6 million for the same period last year. The facility partners with Caesars and Tipico for iGaming, which saw wins close at $6.9 million last month. By comparison, Ocean Casino reported $4.6 million in iGaming wins in March 2023.
Caesars also operates a brick-and-mortar casino in the Garden State, which reported $18.5 million in casino wins in March, a 7.9% uptick compared to the same month in 2023. However, Caesars Interactive saw iGaming wins fall 23% in March 2024 to $6.4 million.
Bally’s, which houses its retail casino and hotel in Atlantic City, reported double-digit casino win growth in March 2024 at $11.7 million, an 11.2% increase year-over-year. Its iGaming operations posted $9.3 million in wins compared to $6.7 million in March 2023.
Golden Nugget reported the highest iGaming win in New Jersey for March 2024 at $57.1 million, a 33.8% increase compared to the same month the year prior. The fellow Atlantic City casino saw its retail operations post $13.6 million in wins last month, up 11.4% year-over-year. Caesars partner Harrah’s posted $21 million in casino wins in March 2024, slightly up from the $20 million it reported in March 2023. Harrah’s iGaming wins closed at $969,726. In March 2023, the casino lacked an iGaming presence in New Jersey.
Tropicana also reported growth with casino wins at $19.8 million in March 2024, a 2.5% increase year-over-year. The casino also partners with Caesars for iGaming with its online casino wins closing at $13.1 million in March 2024, a 72.2% increase year-over-year.
DraftKings partner Resorts Casino posted $13.4 million in March 2024 casino wins compared to $12.6 million for the same month last year. Its Digital business reported $48.8 million in iGaming wins in March 2024, an 8.9% uptick compared to March 2023.
New Jersey is also home to a robust sports betting market, which reported a total sports betting handle of $4.1 billion for the year-to-date, up from $2.9 billion for the same period last year. Total gaming revenue in New Jersey, which includes casino wins, sports betting, and iGaming wins, reached $526 million last month, an 8.1% increase year-over-year.
