Raleigh, NC (STL.News) Using a “combination of birthdays and anniversaries”, Marilyn Bravo Brown of Raleigh tried her luck on a Cash 5 ticket and won a $100,000 jackpot.
Her ticket matched all five numbers in Tuesday’s drawing. She purchased her winning ticket, with that set of favorite numbers, using Online Play on the lottery’s website.
Bravo Brown claimed her prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took home $70,750 after required federal and state tax withholdings.
“I’ll be using it to help my children, pay some bills, and do some repair work,” she said. “I’m getting ready to retire, hopefully soon, so this will be a great help.”
Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Thursday’s jackpot is $110,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.
Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
