Muhlenberg Co. woman hits $70K jackpot on online game
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A Tri-State resident had her lucky day earlier this month after winning a massive jackpot on the Kentucky Lottery website.
Lottery officials say Jacklyn Brooks of Powderly won over $70,000 instantly after she went online and wagered $2 on the Bluegrass Bucks game.
After the game went into the bonus round, the message she won the $70,384.66 jackpot showed up on her phone screen.
“I couldn’t do anything,” she said. “I hit the jackpot, and I didn’t know what to do.”
After hitting the jackpot, Brooks called her best friend to come help her claim it.
“She was just so calm,” her best friend Mandi Griggs said. “If anybody deserves it, it’s her. She’s such a good person. She takes care of everybody.”
After taxes, lottery officials say Brooks received a check for $50,676.95.
She told the Kentucky Lottery that being able to pay off debt will take some of the stress off.
