Mohegan Gaming Eyes Hokkaido in Japan Casino Expansion Bid
Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment is considering opening a casino resort in the City of Tomakomai in Hokkaido, Japan. The company's CEO, Mario Kontomerkos, said Friday that the resort will cost between $3.5 billion and $4. 5 billion. It is expected to employ between 5,000 and 7,00 people permanently.
Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment is bidding for a casino license in Japan. The company is planning to build a resort in Hokkaido. It is also planning a luxury integrated resort resort project in Incheon, South Korea. Hard Rock International and Rush Street Gaming have also announced plans to expand in that part of Japan, and both companies are interested in the development of resorts in their respective countries. Hard Rock plans a guitar-shaped hotel, an event venue, Broadway-style theaters, wellness facilities, a Four Seasons-branded resort, 215,000 square feet of retail and fine dining space.
