One Michigan man is $4 million richer after purchasing a scratch-off lotto ticket.

According to a news release from the Official Michigan Lottery, the lucky 33-year-old player, who decided to remain anonymous, bought the new Diamond 7's game from the 18-Dequindre Convenience in Sterling Heights.

"I like to play a variety of instant games and decided on the Diamond 7's game while I was at the store because it's newer," the player said. "I scanned the ticket and got a message to file a claim, so I took it home to have a family member scan it on their Lottery app."

He and his family member were surprised after they discovered just how much he had actually won.

"One of my family members looked it over and told me I'd won $500. Once we scanned it on the app and saw it was a $4 million winning ticket, we were shocked. It turned into a party!"

The player decided to claim his prize as a one-time lump sum of about $2.5 million rather than annuity payments totaling $4 million. He says he plans to buy a home and then save the rest of his winnings.

"I still can't describe how it feels to win," said the player. "It was such a big surprise for me and my family."

If interested in participating in other Michigan Lotteries, the next Michigan Powerball drawing is estimated to be worth $432 million.

The Mega Millions drawing is also this week. It has an estimated jackpot of $405 million, and the Fantasy 5 has an estimated jackpot of $115,000.
