Mega Millions Friday: 2 NJ lottery players won million-dollar prizes
Two New Jerseyans played online to become millionaires in Friday's Mega Millions drawing, the New Jersey Lottery announced Tuesday.
Both tickets were purchased via the Jackpocket app and matched the five white balls to take home the big prizes. One ticket had the Megaplier option to win $3 million, while the other won $1 million.
A ticket sold at Freedom News at One Path Plaza in Jersey City matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win a $10,000 third-tier prize. There were 27 other NJ lottery players who won $500 by matching four white balls, with one winning $1,500 by having the Megaplier.
In addition, 45,128 other players in the state won $197,936 in prizes in Friday's Mega Millions drawing.
Jackpocket is a third-party lottery app, based in Hewitt in New Jersey, that allows people to play official state lotteries via their phone or computer. States where Jackpocket can be used are: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Washington, DC and West Virginia. $361M Mega Millions jackpot won in Texas
The ticket was a quick pick sold at a Stripes on Sherwood Way in San Angelo, according to the Texas Lottery website.
The Mega Millions winning numbers drawn on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023 were: 12 - 24 - 46 - 57 - 66 and Megaball 22. The Megaplier was 3x
The jackpot will now reset to $20 million for Tuesday night's drawing.
The jackpot had last won on Aug. 15 when a lottery player in Florida won a $39 million jackpot. This came a week after a lottery player in Florida won the record $1.602 billion jackpot. Both tickets were purchased at a Publix supermarket.
