Mega Millions $2 million ticket sold at Wilmington NC gas station
A lucky Mega Millions lottery ticket was sold Tuesday night at a Wilmington convenience store.
According to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery, a $2 million winner was purchased at the Buy & Go in the Exxon gas station on North College Road in Wilmington. The winner — whose identity is not yet known — has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, the $3 ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $1 million — the odds of which were 1 in 12.6 million. The prize doubled to $2 million when the 2X Megaplier hit.
Two other North Carolina tickets won $10,000 each in Tuesday's drawing, the release said. Those tickets were purchased in Burlington and Cherryville, respectively.
A ticket for the record-breaking Mega Millions jackpot, which reached $1.58 billion, was sold at a Publix in Florida. The jackpot will now reset to $20 million for the next drawing.
