Massive €8.5m Lotto win claimed as Kilkenny shop celebrates two jackpot wins in as many years
A person has just become €8.5 million richer after coming forward to claim the Lotto jackpot from Saturday, May 7.
The winner purchased their Quick Pick ticket from Blanchfield's Centra store on the Main Street in Mooncoin, Co Kilkenny on the day of the draw.
The numbers 1, 31, 35, 39, 42, 46 and bonus 45 saw the lucky player take home the €8,508,720 prize.
They join a list of 18 other new millionaires created by the National Lottery this year.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “It was a memorable Monday in National Lottery Headquarters! We were delighted to get the call from the fourth Lotto jackpot winner of the year who won their €8.5 million prize just over a week ago.
“We are now making arrangements for the Kilkenny Lotto jackpot winner to claim their life-changing prize.”
This is the second big winning ticket purchased at Centra Mooncoin, as just over two years ago in December 2019, the Mooncoin store sold a ticket worth over €6.8 million.
Meanwhile, tonight’s EuroMillions jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €25 million.
Punters can buy a ticket before the 7.30pm cut-off time for sales in-store, through the National Lottery app or online at www.lottery.ie.
