Long-Awaited Las Vegas Strip Hotel May Finally Get Built
The Las Vegas Strip contains some of the most iconic hotel/casinos in the world. However, the Strip also has its share of failures. The Mirage, built in 1989, will soon make way for a Guitar Hotel. Caesars Entertainment plans to rebrand its Bally's property on the Las Las Strip under its Horsehoe Brand. Tropicana will be redeveloped into a hotel using the Baly's name.
The Fontainebleau Las Vegas Strip Hotel/Casino is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2023. The project has been in development since 2005. It was originally planned as a sister property for Miami's Fontainbleu Hotel. Construction began in 2007 but the original owner went bankrupt. Jeffrey Soffer bought the project in February 2021. The property is owned by the real estate wing of Kansas conglomerate Koch Industries.
Cliff Atkinson was just named the new president of Fontainebleau Las Vegas. He previously served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Luxor Hotel and Casino on the Las Las Vegas Strip. Fontainbleu LasVegasy will be completed in late-2023. It will feature more than 3,700 hotel rooms, more more 550,000 square feet of convention space, and a world-class collection of restaurants and shops.
