Local raffle jackpot increasing through new partnership
Kincardine’s Catch the Ace raffle is getting a major boost.
The Kincardine Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, Huron Shores Hospice, and Tiverton and District Lions Club are joining forces to offer a bigger and more exciting Catch the Ace raffle to the residents of Kincardine and the surrounding area.
“This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and support three organizations. The pot will grow faster with all three organization’s supporters purchasing tickets,” said Jim McDonald, president of the Kincardine legion. “We are following in the footsteps of our legion members in Goderich by joining forces to create something bigger and better than our current Catch the Ace draw and raising more money to be put to good use in our community. It has worked really well in Goderich with progressive jackpots as high as $80,000.”
The new Catch the Ace progressive raffle will start immediately following the current Catch the Ace lottery at the legion, which is supporting the Kincardine Pipe Band. The new lottery will offer hybrid ticket sales with both online and in-person purchasing opportunities.
The proceeds will be divided equally between the three organizations with the legion and Lions club using the funds to support projects and organizations within the community, and Huron Shores Hospice using its share to support its two-bed residential hospice in Tiverton, along with community programs, which are all delivered free of charge.
“We are excited to work with the Kincardine legion and Tiverton Lions to bring this new format for Catch the Ace to our community. It will be so much fun to watch the progressive jackpot grow with more players supporting the draws and knowing more money is being raised to support our community,” said Cheryl Cottrill, founding director of Huron Shores Hospice.
“Joining forces will help spread out the workload for the operation of Catch the Ace and bring more excitement to our community, all while supporting great causes,” said Hank Van Moorsel of the Tiverton and District Lions Club. “Your support for this Catch the Ace Lottery will help the Lions maintain and expand their humanitarian service for many years to come.”
Once the current legion draw is finished, the start date of the new Catch the Ace progressive raffle and purchasing procedure will be announced.
