Letter: Nash County's planned casino isn't a Field of Dreams
Can the Rocky Mount Telegram clarify whether it is legal to have a casino on land in North Carolina that is not on Indian reservations? I realize we are all putting in our opinions whether or not to build a casino in Nash County. (I am opposed to it.) However, I have not seen that North Carolina has legalized casino gambling.
I see that online sports betting (HB347) was signed by Gov. Roy Cooper on June 14, 2023. When looking on the Internet, I see that bingo and raffles are allowed. I do not see that the governor has signed any bills legalizing casino gambling on land that is not an Indian reservation.
