LeoVegas secures B2B software licenses in Sweden

LeoVegas Group has secured three new B2B licenses to develop and deliver gaming software in Sweden. Issued by the national gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, each license will come into effect from 1 July and will last for three years. The licenses cover the group’s ‘Blue Guru Games’ gaming studio and two betting platforms, allowing the company to work with other licensees in the country.
LeoVegas was obliged to secure the new licenses in accordance with the regulations set out in the Swedish Gaming Act. As of the 1st of July, all companies involved in the development, supply, installation or modification of the iGaming software must have the corresponding license.
“We welcome the introduction of B2B licenses, a decisive step towards mitigating the impact of simultaneously providing key gaming software to licensed operators and unlicensed operators targeting Swedish gamers,” said LeoVegas Chief Executive Gustaf Hagman.
“With the new regulations in place, it is now critical that authorities focus on those vendors who are deliberately undermining the Swedish licensing system by facilitating unlicensed gaming,” added Hagman.
Confirmation of the new licenses comes after LeoVegas announced last month that it had reached an agreement to acquire game developer Push Gaming. Push is also licensed in Sweden and has two B2B licenses. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2023.
After the acquisition, Push Gaming will continue to house 100 employees under the same management. There will be no changes in this department after LeoVegas Resorts acquires the company. Furthermore, Push Gaming will continue to develop and distribute on its own platform.
The part where the deal comes into play is that Push Gaming will support LeoVegas Resorts in its mission to expand its operations, especially in the iGaming space.
