Las Vegas Strip casino signs country superstar to new residency
The competition for big name headliner residencies on the Las Vegas Strip is heating up again. Already, all of the major casino operators on the Strip have lined up huge stars for residencies this year.
Classic R&B group New Edition, which already performed six sold-out shows on the Strip at Wynn Resorts' (WYNN) Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas in February and March, will return for six more shows at the casino in July.
Apollo Global Management's (APO) Venetian Theater at the Venetian Las Vegas has some classic performers coming for residencies. Ringo Starr and his All-Starr is set for six shows on May 22, 25, 26, 29, 31 and June 1, and legendary R&B band Earth Wind & Fire returns to Venetian Theater for a seven- show residency in October. The band last played a nine-show residency at the Venetian in October and November 2023.
Another popular R&B group Boyz II Men returns to the Las Vegas Strip for an exclusive engagement with four shows at MGM Resorts International's (MGM) The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on two weekends Aug. 23-24 and Aug. 30-31.
Some long-running residencies are continuing through the year as well. 1970s popstar Barry Manilow continues his record-breaking residency at the International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas in May, June, September, October November and December.
Superstar singer Adele continues her popular 100-show residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace with shows scheduled in May, June, October and November.
Several huge country stars have residencies lined up through the year as well. Shania Twain's Come On Over residency continues at Caesars Entertainment's Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood with shows in May, August, September, November and December.
Carrie Underwood's Reflection residency rolls through Resorts World Las Vegas in May, June, August and October, and Garth Brooks' Plus One residency runs at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace June, July, September, October and December.
Along with those long-running residencies, another popular country headliner will return to the Strip after being away for almost a year.
Superstar country singer Keith Urban had performed residencies at Caesars Entertainment (CZR) theaters beginning in January 2020, just before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, until November 2023.
Urban started a residency in March 2023 at Caesars Entertainment's Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood and concluded the shows at the casino's renamed Bakkt Theater on Nov. 18, 2023.
Before that residency, Urban performed a residency at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace, which began with four shows in January 2020 before the Covid pandemic closed the residency. Urban resumed the residency in September 2021 and extended the residency until April 2022.
Popular country star returns to the Strip
Urban couldn't stay away from the Las Vegas Strip too long as he stepped away from his longtime Caesars relationship to sign on for his new 10-show High In Vegas residency at Sin City's newest resort hotel Fontainebleau's BleauLive Theater Oct. 4, 5, 9, 11 and 12 and Feb. 14, 15, 19, 21 and 22, 2025.
