Las Vegas 2024: A Year of Events, Transformations, and Thrills

Las Vegas, the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World,’ is all set to roll into an eventful 2024. The city, fresh from the opening of two major casinos, Durango and Fontainebleau, in December 2023, is brimming with anticipation for a year packed with a variety of events, sports seasons, and transformative changes in the casino scene.

Vibrant Event Calendar

The action kicks off with the Super Bowl on February 11, setting the stage for a high-energy year. Throughout 2024, Las Vegas will be a magnet for sports enthusiasts, hosting a myriad of professional and college sports tournaments. The city will also welcome the sports seasons for local teams the Golden Knights, Raiders, and Aces. Adding to the adrenaline rush, the second Grand Prix race will round off the year in November.

A Year of Mega-Concerts, Awards, and Drafts

Beyond sports, Las Vegas will be the epicenter of entertainment, hosting a series of mega-concerts, awards shows, and the NHL draft. The city’s world-class venues are set to host over 100 events each month, promising a memorable experience for both locals and visitors.

Casino Scene Transformation

While 2024 will not see the opening of new casinos, the city’s casino scene will undergo significant transformations. The Mirage is set to metamorphose into the Hard Rock, while the Rio is slated for renovations. The Tropicana is also on the radar, with potential developments related to the Las Vegas Athletics baseball stadium.

Food Scene: Buffets and More

As for the dining scene, no new buffets are slated to open in 2024. The number of buffets remains at 13, mirroring the previous year. However, food halls are gaining traction as the preferred alternative, offering a diverse range of culinary delights.

Competitive Eating and More

Adding to the city’s unique charm, renowned competitive eater, Joey ‘Jaws’ Chestnut will participate in the Siegel’s Bagelmania World Bagel-Eating Championship on January 13, alongside top female eater Miki Sudo. While the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N., an interactive exhibit that opened in 2016 at Treasure Island, has closed, the city continues to offer a plethora of unique experiences for everyone.
