Lady Bulldogs eye Final Four slot
NATIONAL University (NU) looks to clinch a Final Four spot when it faces University of the East (UE) in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena today, May 31.
Game time is 6:30 p.m.
Rampaging through the competition, the Lady Bulldogs remain perfect through nine games as they defeated all their opponents including Ateneo de Manila University last Saturday, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18.
A win over the still winless Lady Warriors would secure a semifinals spot for NU with 10 wins, as the current bottom four teams in Ateneo (4-5), University of the Philippines (UP, 4-5), Far Eastern University (1-8) and UE (0-9) can only win nine games at max.
"We need to remind ourselves that we're not satisfied with this (9-0 record). We still need to work and play well every game," said NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan.
As for the Lady Warriors, they just want to get their breakthrough win of the season. UE is coming off a humiliating 16-25, 14-25, 9-25 loss to Adamson last Saturday.
Meanwhile, second seed University of Santo Tomas and fifth-running Ateneo battle in the quadruple-header curtain-raiser at 10 a.m. followed by the tussle between Adamson and FEU at 12:30 p.m. Third placer De La Salle University and sixth seed UP collide at 4 p.m.
