Jane Park: EuroMillions Winner Says Jackpot Made Her ‘Miserable’
Jane Park, who became the youngest EuroMillions jackpot winner after bagging £1 million at the age of 17, has reflected on her life now at 26 and shared with Tyla how winning the money made her miserable. Watch below:
Now, as much as I’m sure we all think we’d love to suffer the problems of a millionaire, some of the intimate ins and outs of Jane’s life after she won the prize don't sound like anything to be envious about.
Things started off pretty well however, as Park described how she enjoyed the whirlwind lifestyle of being 17, going on holiday with friends, making lavish designer purchases and very silly tattoo decisions - including getting a DJ’s name tattooed on her bum in exchange for free drinks.
However, things took a turn for the worse when the realities of fame set in.
The millionaire turned influencer told Tyla: “Basically I went from being this young 17-year-old just going to work every day to this like massive household name.”
She stated that the reality of this was leaving home to finding journalists outside, waiting for her outside her work and even hiding in bushes to get a picture of her.
This media attention, in turn, led to online abuse where she received some 'horrific messages' - particularly after a story broke in the media about Jane threatening to sue Camelot following her win, something she denies.
She said: "When the story came out that I was going to sue I literally had the worst amount of abuse online.
"People were saying like 'Die', I had acid attack threats, it was literally hectic.
"People were hating on me and I was just this young girl who just wanted to be heard. I remember feeling like my life was s***.
"I thought it was going to be amazing, I was going to be this big massive celebrity, constantly being on red carpets and stuff.
"I was literally sitting in a three-bedroom house alone, crying myself to sleep."
Jane revealed to Tyla that the media attention and subsequent online abuse played a 'massive part' in her feeling self-conscious about her body.
She said: “If they [the media] had probably left me alone, I wouldn’t have wanted all this cosmetic surgery.”
Speaking about her various surgeries, Jane revealed that she nearly lost her life during a BBL (Brazilian bum lift) procedure that took place in Turkey.
She said that when she got back from her procedure, she ended up having to go to two different hospitals and was hooked up to a drip before being told she had septicaemia.
She recalled being told: “If you had have left that 24 hours later it could have been fatal.”
Despite this massive scare however, Jane revealed that she actually went back to Turkey and got a second BBL.
Explaining her rationale, she said: “Yeah I done the exact same procedure again. I was literally petrified but I remember thinking I hate my body again and I was constantly in the media again.”
