Las Vegas Sands Corporation has donated $17 million to a local political action committee (PAC) in support of a gambling-friendly initiative in Florida.

Las Vegas Sands Corporation is considering various options to comply with the recently-agreed gaming compact with Seminole Tribe of Florida. The compact was purportedly signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantisin late-May. It would give the tribe a statewide monopoly on craps, roulette and retail sportsbetting from as soon as October and permission to build and run up to three new casinos.

The agreement between the National Indian Gaming Commission and Las Vegas Sands Corporation must be approved before the expiration of an August 5 deadline. It is already the subject of a federal lawsuit brought by the owner of one of the state's largest casinos. DraftKings Incorporated and FanDuel Group are seeking voter approval to bring commercial online sportsbetting to Florida.

Jacksonville is the most populous city in Florida. Florida Voters in Charge is advocating for a pair of ballot initiatives. The first proposition would authorize a trio of Florida cardrooms to open fully-fledged casinos. It would be open to out-of-state operators via a competitive bidding processes.

Las Vegas Sands Corporation has long lobbied for permission to bring a casino to Florida. The company's earlier efforts had involved the southern end of the state around the city of Miami. After 2018, the company will need statewide approval via referendum.
