IPL 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India unveiled the IPL 2022 Player Auction List just a couple of days ago. The list includes plenty of illustrious names. As many as 590 cricketers will go under the hammer.

Out of those 590 cricketers, 370 of them are Indians and 220 of them are overseas players. All these players have enrolled themselves at the mega auction that will kick off in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13 respectively.

There are plenty of interesting things waiting in store for the fans at the mega auction. Franchises are expected to launch a bidding war by battling it out amongst themselves to sign the proven performers.

Talking about the price bracket, 48 players have enrolled themselves at the INR 2 crore bracket, which is the highest price. On the other hand, 20 players have enrolled themselves at INR 1.5 crore price bracket.

The other price bracket is the INR 1 crore category where as many as 34 players have enrolled themselves at the mega auction for this reserve price. Earlier, the BCCI asked the eight existing teams to retain a maximum of 4 players ahead of the mega auction.

Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals have retained four players each. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad retained three players apiece. Punjab Kings retained two players.

On the other hand, the two new teams have been asked to pick a maximum of three players with not more than one overseas player. The Ahmedabad-based franchise recruited the services of Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill.

Lucknow Super Giants also made a smart piece of business ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. They recruited the services of KL Rahul as captain, Marcus Stoinis as an all-rounder, and Ravi Bishnoi as a bowler.

On the contrary, there is no Right To Match option available this time. This means that the teams can no longer retain their old players, unlike the previous seasons. We might see players playing for other franchisees in the next season.

Earlier, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the upcoming season of the IPL will be held in India. As per the information available, the BCCI is planning to host the IPL in Maharashtra – Mumbai, and Pune respectively.

The BCCI President also made it very clear that the management will then take a call on the venue for the knockout stages later. “It (IPL 2022) will be held in India this year, until and unless the COVID-19 hits the roof.

“So far, it has been decided that the IPL will be played in India. As far as venues are concerned, we are looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra – Mumbai and Pune. We will then take a call on the venue for the knockout stages”
