Inaugural Bermuda casino license for The St Regis Bermuda Resort
The St Regis Bermuda Resort has been awarded its inaugural license for casino gaming. The move has topped a long process that dates back to the 2016 passage of legislation that allows luxury hotels on the small archipelago of 64,000 people to feature casinos offering a wide variety of games.
The St Regis Bermuda Resort is a four-star facility at the northern end of St George Parish. It opened its doors some 17 months ago and features a function room, a restaurant, spa and an 18-hole golf course managed by Marriott International Incorporated.
The St Regis Bermuda Resort was awarded a casino license. The license is now held by the actual owner, HotelCo Bermuda Holding Limited. There are still several issues to be resolved before the casino can open. The opening date of the facility is dependent on the operator meeting all legislative requirements.
Bermuda Gaming Commission hopes to open the territory's first casino by the end of June. St Regis Bermuda Resort is in a race with the nearby Hamilton Princess Hotel and Beach Club facility, which applied for a license in August.
