Several slot machines were seized from a Maryland business following an investigation into a complaint of illegal gambling in Charles County.

Members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Alcohol and Tobacco Unit launched an investigation into a business in the 4700 block of Crain Highway in White Plains regarding the use of slot machines that were being operated without a license.

Based on the complaint, an alcohol compliance check was conducted at the business, and it was determined that four slot machines - none of which were licensed by the State of Maryland - were being used without proper permits, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said.

All four machines were recovered from the business following the investigation.

“Alcohol compliance checks are conducted at businesses that serve alcohol throughout the year as required by Maryland law and local legislation,” the spokesperson said. “The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office.”
