Here Are the Michigan Stores That Sold $1,000,000 Tickets in 2022
Yet again, lottery fever is taking over Michigan - and the entire country.
With the current Mega Millions jackpot over $1 billion, it's not just the diehards trying to win the big bucks - it's casual gamblers too.
We all daydream about being the one who's got the sole winning ticket when those lucky numbers are announced. A lot of times when the jackpots reach heights like this though, it seems like the jackpot ends up being split among a handful of winning tickets.
Even If You Don't Win the Mega Millions Jackpot, You Could Still Win Big
In the event you've never played Mega Millions before and this is your first time, let's break it down.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game that is currently played in every state except Alabama, Nevada, Utah, Alaska and Hawaii. Mega Millions started in 1996 as "The Big Game", but has had a few name changes over the years. Michigan joined in 2010. The cost is $2 per play.
Players can either choose an "easy-pick" (allowing the computer to choose their random numbers for them), or choose their own numbers to play. Five numbers ranging from 1 to 70 are picked to represent the white balls, along with one number ranging from 1 to 25 to represent the gold Mega Ball.
A ticket has to match all six numbers correctly in order to win the jackpot for that drawing (or at least part of it in the event there are multiple tickets with the same numbers chosen).
Don't worry if you don't match all six numbers. Matching the five white balls - and not the gold Mega Ball - still wins you a nice $1 million! (Smaller prizes are awarded to holders of tickets with 2, 3, or 4 matching numbers, and to those who picked the gold Mega Ball correctly.)
In 2022, Michigan sold a grand total of 48 lottery tickets worth $1,000,000 or more, including two via the Mega Millions game. Here are the stores that sold them.
