Hawaii behind Las Vegas as tourism destination
Honolulu Star-Advertiser sportswriter Stephen Tsai wrote a column about the differences between Hawaii and Las Vegas. He thinks Las Nevada is a better tourism destination than Hawaii. Tsia believes the public was hornswoggled into paying $750 million in room-tax money to help build $2 billion Allegiant Stadium. He also thinks the McCarran International Airport makes Las Vegans look like the airport on "Wings". The city's tourism picture will only get better as international flights and conventions come back. It is fun, welcoming and inclusive. it is bigger and better in the desert.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is flattered by Tsai's comparison of their two destinations. Efforts to reach tourism leaders in Hawaii were unsuccessful.
