Harrah's Philadelphia has downsized its gaming floor slot capacity by 563 terminals.

Harrah's Philadelphia has lost 563 slot machines. The removal was approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Caesars Entertainment owns the racetrack-casino. It has lowered its slot count from 2,263 to 1,700. 338 of the slots lost were from the smoking section.

Harrah's Philadelphia has lost 563 slot machines. The company will not reduce staff. The casino's slot revenue has fallen significantly over recent years despite the high number of terminals. There is more competition in the area with southeastern Pennsylvania now home to four other casinos. It is estimated that the reduction in machines will benefit the Pennsylvania casino in a number ways.

Caesars has invested in Harrah's Philadelphia recently. Caesar's has committed to similar investments outside of Pennsylvania. In April of this year, Caeresars announced a $400m investment in Atlantic City.
