Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos Settle on No Smoking Policy Indoors
Harrah's Cherokee Casinos have decided to enforce a no smoking policy on their casino floors and indoor facilities. The move is expected to have a positive impact on clientele and help the tribe protect members of the staff, its communities, and visitors to its gaming facilities from smoke.
The first widespread smoking bans on casino floors began in 2020 during the pandemic. Some of Harrah's casinos reintroduced indoor smoking once the protocols were no longer in place. The Tribal Council decided to keep the non-smoking policy permanent.
Cherokee Secretary of Public Health and Human Services Vickie Bradley supports a ban on smoking in and around the gaming venues. According to surveys and research, 85% of the American public consists of non-smokers and 75% would prefer to gamble in facilities that did not allow smoking.
There are over 16 million Americans a year who live with a smoking-related illness.
Harrah's Cherokee Casinos have banned smoking indoors. Some people think it might alienate smokers and force them to travel to neighboring casinos. However, the trend of prohibiting smoking on gambling floors is not likely to stop.
Harrah's Cherokee casinos have a no smoking policy. They will allow people to smoke in designated areas. A similar proposal for casinos in New Jersey led to protests.
Some guests prefer to smoke while playing games, but others prefer a smoke-free environment.
