New Partial Ban on Smoking in Casinos Rejected by Casino Workers
Antonio City casinos want to strike a middle ground between anti-smoking and pro-smoking campaigners. Many casinos fear that prohibiting smoking on-site will turn away well-heeled gamblers.
New Jersey wants to ban smoking in all nine casinos. The proposal is not acceptable to the workers. They want to create outdoor smoking areas and let employees choose not to work there. The bill is stuck in the legislature. Gov. Phil Murphy has said he will sign it immediately. Workers have appealed to US vice president Kamala Harris to support their cause. Casinos are skeptical about the economic impact of a smoking ban. New Jersey is a loophole regulation. Patrons are allowed to smoke on the premises of casinos, which are public places. Other public public place are prohibited from allowing their patrons to do so.
