Google showcased its future plans with the gaming industry in Google Think Games 2022

Google’s flagship event for the Gaming Industry, Google Think Games 2022 took place in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, where they shared the latest trends and insights on the gaming industry in Vietnam and globally. Google also showcased the latest survey information on user behavior and held experience-sharing sessions.
At this event, Google also officially introduced three crucial programs to support Vietnamese game developers, including Google Play Academy, Gaming Growth Lab 2022, and Play Points. With these programs, Google intends to help and grow the overall business of game developers.
The emerging rise of Vietnam’s gaming industry
Global provider of games and esports analytics, NewZoo estimated that nearly 3.2 billion people will play games in 2022, spending a combined total of $196.8 billion. It is also estimated that the gaming industry to reach global revenue of up to 219 billion USD by 2024. The primary driver of market growth across the world is mobile, which is expected to generate revenues of $103.5 billion this year.
With 430,000 game developers and almost 68% of the population having access to a network connection to play games on mobile devices, the gaming industry in Vietnam is on the rise. Google sensed the same and came up with its programs to tap into the market. According to a report from App Annie, one out of every 25 games downloaded globally will be made in Vietnam. This clearly shows the potential.
In the future, it’s expected that the gaming industry can play a crucial role in the economic development of the country and Google sensed the same. With its Think Games Vietnam 2022 event, Google officially introduced two key programs to support game developers, including Google Play Academy and Gaming Growth Lab 2022.

Gaming Growth Lab 2022 can prove to be a catalyst for the industry
Gaming Growth Lab is Google’s exclusive online training program for the most promising and growing mobile game studios in Vietnam, to promote their business with Google. Google’s Gaming Growth Lab is a virtual webinar series for the top up-and-coming mobile game studios being developed in Vietnam.
The program would assist game developers in acquiring critical knowledge and experience from Google experts in areas including Cloud, Ads, AdMob, and Play. At Gaming Growth Lab 2021, more than 200 individuals participated from 32 game studios. They applied the lessons learned in the training course to grow their businesses, making significant changes to their game product development process.
Under this program, the top 50 game developers would be chosen to participate in the professional training program from Google. Additionally, the program also includes Office Hours and Business Coaching sessions to allow the game studio to interact directly with industry experts and mentors.
