Gambling Is Legal in Michigan, Is Illegal Gambling Still Going On
Several gas stations were raided in Michigan that had illegal gambling machines in their storefronts right out in the open for anyone to play.
Gambling in Michigan
With casinos all over the state of Michigan, online gambling, sports betting, and apps for gambling, you would think that illegal gambling would be a thing of the past right?
I get there will always be local groups getting together privately for some poker with buddies at home or the office brackets during college basketball. I didn't really think organized gambling would still be a thing in Michigan but apparently, it is.
Illegal Gambling Raids in Detroit
Illegal gambling is much more prevalent in Michigan than I thought it would be. I was very surprised to learn on just how bold some illegal gambling operations have become.
A bunch of gas stations have been raided all around Detroit and near Flint that contained illegal gambling machines. What is crazy about this, someone had to sell and maintain the machines for the gas stations to have them in the first place.
Another thing that is wild about these illegal machines being inside gas stations is they were right out in the open in plain sight. An officer off duty could have walked in for a snack or to use the restroom and would have seen these machines. This makes me think these machines were marketed to the gas stations as legal.
According to Fox 17, nearly 56 gambling machines and over $12,700 in cash were collected from illegal gambling raids. 53 of the machines came from a storefront near Flint. There were slot machines, coin-pushing machines, and several casino-style games that were confiscated.
I bet some gas station owners and gambling machine vendors have some explaining to do.
