Gambling Addiction Non-Profit Advertises Free Slot Spins
The Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health is a non-profit promoting public health by mitigating negative personal and community impacts of gambling and gaming. The council is promoting free spins for slot machines. Anti-gambling advocates are dismayed by the association between the council and a casino.
The Toys for Tots toy drive was held at Plainridge Park Casino on December 1. The event was organized by the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health in coordination with the casino. People who bought a toy received $10 in free slot machine play at the Casino.
The council shared a flyer with a gambling incentive on Facebook. Harry Levant, a recovering gambling addict, is concerned about the impact of the flyer. The council did not properly review the contents of it.
