Fake websites target The Edge to promote online gambling
KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): The Edge warned the public to beware of a fraudulent website impersonating The Edge’s online news portal that has been speculated in social media to promote an online gambling site in conjunction with the 2022 FIFA World Cup which started on Nov 20.
The fake website fraudulently impersonates The Edge’s website, including misusing the name and logo of The Edge to dupe readers.
It has come to our attention that the fake website with articles is being circulated through Facebook.
The title of these stories are “M’sian who earns RM575K a month doesn't pay for his taxes and it’s legal” and “This story will make you think twice about going to Genting casino.”
Over on Twitter, it has also come to our attention that an account impersonated The Edge Malaysia with the username, @edgemy. It has 150 followers at the time of writing.
