HENDERSON, Nev. – Emerald Island Casino and Rainbow Club Casino in downtown Henderson are proud to announce that Courtney Garland has been honored by Vegas Inc with the 40 Under 40 award. Garland, who is 31 years old currently serves as the director of operations at both Emerald Island and Rainbow Club Casino. The award celebrates individuals under the age of 40 who are outstanding business and community leaders in Southern Nevada.
“We are pleased to celebrate with Courtney as she is recognized for this award,” said Emerald Island and Rainbow Club Casinos owner Tim Brooks. “Courtney is an outstanding business leader and has been an integral part of our success since she joined the company two years ago. Despite navigating pandemic restrictions and food and beverage cost shortages, both Emerald Island and Rainbow Club have continued to thrive under her leadership. On behalf of the staff, our guests and the community, we can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.”
Garland was promoted from assistant general manager in 2020 to director of operations where her responsibilities include elevating the casino brand. Through her efforts and focus on technological expansion, the Emerald Island Casino reader board was recently upgraded to an electronic signboard. The successful installation of their latest program “Emerald Express Cash powered by Marker Trax,” is a digital system that allows guests to play now and pay later by conveniently accessing funds directly at their favorite machine instead of using an ATM. Garland has a business degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is actively involved in community service. In addition to volunteering at the City of Henderson Animal Care and Control as a dog exerciser and adoption counselor, she is also involved with the UNLV Alumni Association and the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as a SYNK Customer Advisory Board Member and belongs to the Xs & Os of Success’ Rising Leaders Legend, which aims to engage and educate the leaders of tomorrow through coaching and development training.
Vegas Inc has been conducting the 40 Under 40 Awards since 2000 and this year marks its 22 edition. Submissions were selected based on the nominee’s service to the community, entrepreneurial attitude, and overall impact in their industry. In order to qualify, a nominee must be under 40 and live and work in Clark County. Winners were recognized at the Sahara Hotel and Casino on March 31, and is featured on the cover of a special edition of Vegas Inc.
