The Colorado Division of Gaming is launching a new campaign to promote awareness and prevention of illegal gambling by encouraging residents and visitors to gamble with only legal operators.

“Play Legit. Gamble Only Where Legal.” is a complex marketing campaign with a purpose of persuading bettors to support regulated gaming venues and avoid unlicensed sportsbooks.
“With many certified and legal gambling sites available, it’s never worth it to put yourself in danger,” says Chris Schroder, Director of the Colorado Division of Gaming.
“Together, let’s play by the rules and ensure that Colorado remains a safe and responsible gaming destination. By recognizing and preventing illegal gambling, we all win.”
Of course, the campaign highlights legal gambling options in the state, including brick-and-mortar casinos in Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek, along with licensed online sportsbooks and off-track betting.

Furthermore, the campaign urges players to gamble responsibly and to protect themselves and their communities by using regulated gaming outlets.
According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, bettors are more likely to develop a problem gambling disorder with illegal operators.
“Illegal gambling operations not only fail to protect players but can also serve as a breeding ground for serious crimes, including fraud, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and burglary, posing a threat to public safety and community well-being,” according to the Colorado Division of Gaming’s official press release.
“Participants in illegal gambling activities also compromise personal and financial information, putting individuals at risk of identity theft, unreliable payouts, and potential legal consequences, such as fines and imprisonment.”
Additionally, the campaign also has a new website from the Colorado Department of Revenue titled PlayLegitCO.com.
