Chicago Plan Commission Approves Bally’s Casino Plans
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved Bally's casino plans. The final vote was 12-1. A late objection from an alderperson was not enough to derail the approval. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has already endorsed Baly's plans to build a $1 billion casino resort.
Walter Burnett Jr. is concerned about the number of jobs created for local black residents. He wants to see the Bally's workforce development plan by Tuesday. Baly's promises to meet the commitments related to minority workers. The plan is that 46% of contracts will go to female-owned or minority- owned firms, with 60% hiring being minorities.
Chicago Plan Commission approves Bally's casino plans. Baly's plans to open a temporary casino in 2023 and a permanent one in 2020. Bly's was chosen as the winning bidder to be Chicago's first casino operator in May.
