Chaos Erupts At The Mirage Hotel & Casino As Nevada Gaming Policy Requires The Company To Fulfill A $1.6 Million Payout Before Its Closure

As the Mirage Hotel & Casino prepares to officially close its doors on July 17th, the legendary Las Vegas casino must meet a requirement that’s sure to leave casino players with big smiles on their faces. Thanks to a Nevada gaming policy, the Mirage is hosting a “Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway,” as the law requires the casino to payout over $1.6 million in cash before it leaves the Strip.

Since Tuesday, many individuals have made their way to the Mirage to test their luck at table games and slots. According to the casino, the “Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway” is a promotion that is a parting gift to its loyal customers and a requirement by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, which says casinos must create a plan to payout their jackpot before closing their doors. The law is in place to prevent guests from claiming they did not receive their earnings due to the closure.

$1.2 million was allocated to slot machines and $400,000 to table games. From July 9-13 and the 16th, guests can use their free Hard Rock Unity Card to participate in drawings from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. To become eligible, players must be at least 21 years old and insert their Unity Card into each drawing. Each hour, one winner is selected and must identify themselves within five minutes, or another player is chosen. However, players can win multiple cash prizes.

As the closing of the Mirage has marked the end of an era for Las Vegas, let us not forget the history and the legacy the casino and hotel have created. See what social media users are saying below:
