Caesars Entertainment shared renderings for Caesar's Virginia Casino to open in late 2023. The resort is expected to break ground during December in Danville. It will include 500 hotel rooms, a casino floor, Caesar's Sportsbook, and a World Series of Poker-branded card room. Danvillians voted to allow casinos by referendum last November. Virginia legalized sports betting in 2020. There is already mobile wagering available, but no retail wagers.
A study from Fourth Economy found that a casino in Danville could see between 1 to 2 million visitors each year. About $315 million in annual spending at the casino and at other businesses in the city is anticipated. The casino is expected to generate 900 construction jobs and 1,300 ongoing jobs. Danvillians are expected $38 million annual tax revenue from the project.
