British Columbia Casinos to Need COVID Vaccination Proof
The government of British Columbia in Canada has announced plans for a proof of vaccination requirement for casinos and other indoor venues starting September 13.
British Columbia's government wants to increase the vaccination rate in casinos. The proof of vaccination requirement will be introduced on September 13. By October 24, gamblers will need to have had two doses of the vaccine.
BC Government News took to Twitter on Tuesday to publicize the new measures.
British Columbia's casinos reopened on July 1st after a long-term quarantine. They are subject to restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Casinos can operate at around 50% capacity. They must reduce the number of slots and the seats at table games, and restrict food and beverage services. Almost 75% of British Columbia’s population has already received at least one dose of the COID- 19 vaccine.
The province of Ontario allowed its casinos to reopen with a 50% capacity restriction in place on July 23. Loto-Quebec has now opened all of its gaming properties across Quebec following the easing of restrictions in June. The operator welcomed back customers at its final property, Casino de Montreal, on June 30.
