Microsoft has acquired Activision Blizzard. This is the latest in a long line of impressive mergers in the gaming industry.
Playtech acquired YoYo Games in one of the biggest mergers in gaming history. Yo Yo Games created GameMaker, the drag and drop game engine. It allowed Playtech to make its game creation process simpler and speed up the titles it released. In 2021 Yoyo Games was sold to Opera as part of Opera's plans to move into mobile gaming.
Take Two acquired Zynga. This was the biggest deal in gaming history. It's a big example of video gaming moving more and more to the mobile sector. Oculus was created for gaming but it looks like it will be used for something more aimed at everyday life. It will give Facebook the opportunity to provide a complete package to consumers. Facebook recently moved into being Meta and created the Metaverse.
