Gambling has never been formally legalized in Bangladesh, but the government does not officially endorse any online activities. In 2012, the national Lotteries and Gambling Board of Bangladesh issued licenses to three companies to operate gambling businesses. The three entities that received licenses were Dhaka Gabbling City, Capital Club Ltd., and CineStar Limited. A legal framework for online gaming was adopted in 2016, though the legality of online gambling is still not clear. Bangladesh is negotiating with neighboring countries to legally regulate online casinos.
