Aussie Woman Who Stole $AU1M to Play on Social Casino Sentence Appeal Denied
Rachel Naomi Perri was accused of embezzling money from her employer for a period of three years. The money was used to play an online gambling game on Facebook by the name of Heart of Vegas. Peri was sentenced to six years in December 2021. She wants to plead a lighter sentence because of her unhealthy relationship with games of chance.
Perri stole AU$940,221 from her employer. She played Heart of Vegas app for three years. Perri was caught out after forging entries in the veterinary clinic to hide her traces. Peri pleaded guilty and will serve six years in prison. The game does not pay real money. Real money gambling on online casino games is prohibited in Australia. However, some developers find ways to push their products as social experiences.
Perri stole $AU1M to play on Social Casino. Her latest appeal to reduce the sentence was denied. The judges ruled that she had premeditated the crime. Perri did not win any money and probably used the entire sum of money to go to Heart of Vegas.
