ACMA blocks six illegal gambling websites

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) investigated the websites operating breached the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
It sees website blocking as an enforcement option to protect the public against illegal online gambling.
Since the ACMA made its first request in November 2019, 568 illegal gambling websites have been blocked.
The ACMA added over 170 illegal services have pulled out of the market since it enforced new illegal offshore gambling rules in 2017.
The government body warns consumers to be vigilant—that even if a service looks legitimate, it is unlikely to have customer protections, making Australians vulnerable to risk and losing their money.
The ACMA urges the public to check first if the website is licensed to operate in Australia.
