ACMA blocks five unlicensed and unregistered online gambling sites targeting the Australian market. Juicy Stakes, Koala Royal, National Casino, Jackpot Jill and Grand Rush were blocked.
ACMA blocks five illegal gambling websites in Australia. The websites are in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001. ACMA wants to make sure that Australians are safe online. In August, ACma asked internet service providers to block affiliate websites promoting gambling online in any way. Since then, 295 websites have been blocked and 140 services pulled out of Australian market.
Online gambling is on an upward trend. By 2023, the global revenue of online gambling sites will exceed $92 billion. There's a possibility of that revenue reaching $100 billion by 2025. Online gambling has become more popular due to easy accessibility, rich game libraries and bonuses and promotions offered to registered players.
