After years of construction, Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland will open its hotel tower in December, but only to invited guests first.

A press release about the opening of the hotel at the complex formerly known as San Manuel Casino said that the resort would open its 17-story hotel, which includes 127 suites among its 432 guest rooms as well as a spa, to “tribal citizens and special guests” on Dec. 13.

Yaamava’s website currently shows availability for the general public to book rooms beginning in April 2022. The first three months of the year are already booked. Weekday rooms start at $600 while weekends range from $800-$900 per night for a standard king or queen room. Suites start at $800 on weeknights and $1,000 on weekends, according to a spot check of the website on Monday, Nov. 29.

The hotel’s pool deck, including a restaurant, will open in spring 2022, according to Jenna Brady, spokesperson for the resort.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians started gaming operations on the property in 1986 as a bingo hall. The footprint of the gaming facility expanded over the decades and expanded to include slots and card games. In recent years, the tribe closed the bingo hall, which also hosted concerts, and replaced it with the Rockin’ Casino, which features several music-themed slot machines and eateries such as Rock & Brews and George Lopez’s Chingon Kitchen.

The resort’s $760 million expansion began in July 2018 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first phase of the development that opened over in summer 2021 included a gaming space, multiple new high-limit rooms, the Serrano Vista Café, three bars and new shops.

Among other recent changes is the new location of the Pines Modern Steakhouse. It moved from the casino’s second floor to the to first floor, near the entrance to the hotel. The restaurant also has a new menu focusing on steaks, seafood and ultra-high-end dining experiences.

The final phase of the resort’s expansion is a 2,800-seat entertainment venue that is expected to open to the public early next year.
